  • DR Won’t Render From VRayPhysicalCamera…Sometimes

And the “sometimes” is the frustrating part.

    Howdy V-Rayers,

So I’m a DR junkie. I love it. I need it. But, I’m having a weird, frustrating problem with DR (V-Ray 1.5 and 2.0).

One minute, DR works fine when rendering from a VRayPhysicalCamera. Then suddenly, something breaks, and DR won’t play nicely with that scene again. I get the dreaded green message:

“Warning: Render host is not responding”

    Weird Fix #1
If I switch to a 3ds max perspective view and re-render, DR will kick in just fine; no troubles (except for the fact that the exposure is blinding without the physical cam.) If I switch back to the camera, it doesn’t work. I can delete the old camera and create a new one, but it still hates me. Only switching to a perspective view will solve the DR woes. Obviously this is unacceptable, but it works nevertheless.

    Weird Fix #2
If I close my current scene, open a completely different scene (where DR works fine with the VRayPhysicalCamera), delete everything in that scene, merge in all the contents of my current scene, and render, IT WORKS FINE. It may work fine forever, or it may be short-lived and stop working within 15 minutes (in which case, I have to do weird fix #2 all over again.)

I cannot figure out what is causing DR to suddenly stop working. Believe me, if I could figure it out, I’d STOP DOING IT!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

    Thanky,
    JJ
